If they do have a series 3 that would be an embarrassment and would show desperation.

VS Commodore ute/Statesman Series 3???

The VE basic body will soldier on for a few years yet, but there definitely will not be a VE Series 3. The VF will be released within about two years and will be a substantial face lift of the basic VE shape. It will need to revitalise the design for at least a further three to four years as the next completely new body design is not planned for release before 2018. That means the basic VE shape will have run for 12 years, so the VF will need to radically reshape the car to give it a new identity, without incurring the massive cost of a completely new body.

I would predict that the VF will arrive in the second half of 2013, with a VF II around late 2015/early 2016, and the completely new shape (if it ever gets the go-ahead from the US, and isn't just a redesigned GM international design like the Malibu or Cruze) in early 2018.

Now, back to polishing that crystal ball.

beleive it or not the lenght of thime the ve has been around unchanged is a deliberate move holden stated this when the released the car that it would be the end of a new v model every few years and they were following the aporch a lot of other car makes have and simply improve the produt they have with platform chagers every 10-12 years. yes the ve will be stretch as far as possible but this is a good thing for current owners because it helps to retain value as the 2006 launch model is not radicly different to the 2010 model for instance.

Actually, when the VE was first released, Holden stated that it was intended only to have a body life cycle of 6 years, rather than the 8 to 9 years previous Commodores have had. World economic conditions and a downturn in buyer interest in large 6 cylinder cars soon forced a change to that thinking and now the VE will be a much older design when it is finally pensioned off than any earlier design.

One change that should be coming in a couple of months is a new 3.6l engine.
Holden have always said that the 3.6 in the VE will be going E85 by the end of this year.
If this is the case I would say that the new LFX 3.6 with about 230kw will be the engine they use.
