As I understand it, the maps is listed 3rd from the bottom and the latest maps are 84160883 version 30.12.10.11.

Holden Customer Care have no idea about map versions and release schedules. If newer maps are about to be released, and the dealer says so, then the dealer should be able to specify the numbers, otherwise they are just talking rubbish...

Too true. and time will tell.

On a side note, the fact we can’t really determine what version was released, and when it was released, would makes it difficult to know what’s really going on. As an example, if you bought your car in mid 2015 and the maps were released 2013, I’d be pushing Holden to provide an update gratis as a new car should have latest maps when delivered (and many other brands now update maps for free while under warranty).

The first one Garmin was $320, the second one was $300. The latest Update has Red Light camera in Grey but when you find a SPEED and RED LIGHT camera it warns you in RED!!!. The Firmware and Map update are perfect to start with and what they are doing now is fixing some bugs and adding some new features.

Our VF Mylink is RUBBISH!!!!! When it come for maps and Speed Cameras and EXTRA Features. My I say it AGAIN!!!! My neighbours late 2017 Calias a beautiful car possibly the last one build in Australia has the latest and greatest maps now but still does not list the roads behind us that were laid 10 months ago ( yet the Garmin has) and when it come to the RED light and SPEED Combination cameras at traffic light they are NO THERE!!!. So what the good of having MYLINK than when you need it it FAILS MISERABLY!.

Blame the Stroke I had 3 years ago for this because even after having a bad stroke that really effect me I still can see that MYLINK is USELESS for our VF's. What the good of having the Latest and greatest MYLINK Maps and Firmware update when its useless to all of us.

In Future I will post on my after Market SatNav thread I have created months ago to stop confusion and I might get some NEW Photos to show the new Features for the Garmin.

@VFSV6FORME, don’t worry about it. Some weren’t confused so I should read more carefully ;)

Yep, the MyLink Nav system has its deficiencies without a doubt while the fact Pandora is still lurking within the firmware is rather annoying... It is what it is and I still occasionally use it...

I also occasionally use my Navman as I particularly like the GPS calculated speed since it’s (usually) much more accurate than what the vehicle indicates...

Maybe we should all ring HCC and flood them with complaints about the MyLink deficiencies.

With enough complaints, Holden may get off its arse and do the correct thing by its customers with firmware and maps updates... Holden may still choose to do nothing as GM could be contemplating give up this market... who knows the future o_O

Holden might have done something in the next model it produced, to not make the same mistakes again ... I can’t see there being any chance of them spending any money on an old model.
[and I can’t imagine the Pandora thing actually bothers anyone else :)]

After I drove my Neighbour VF 2017 Calias (a beautiful car)and drove the Toyota Camry 2017 model + a the Latest Mitsubishi Our My link is the worse of the bunch but none of them catch the after Market high end $$$ devices you can buy. It a damm shame you cant pair you after Market sat Nav to the Mylink itself.

      1. Sorry about the length and numbering of 'paragraphs' (my cut and paste somehow caused the numbering layout). I agree with others and my concerns include that for what people pay they should not need to stick their mobile phone onto the window when they paid for SatNav HUD; the MyLink issues/problematic roads in question are not new; my car's SatNav at times thinks its on different adjacent road and often takes unnecessary/unwarranted excursions that send the driver in circles sometimes without proper warning. Recently wrongly told me (which I ignored this time) to exit the highway I was on 3 times, then repeatedly 'make a legal U-turn... when possible' - how can we be expected to buy/trust any GM autonomous vehicle, especially if as predicted cars will be without a steering wheel; GM'H' don't support fixing customers outdated navigation while even under warranty - as to GM'H' these problems appear acceptable. GM'H' didn't tell me that the SatNav in the car I bought often gets lost and is well out of date when you purchase their top of the range vehicle (in fact I was told by GM'H' they would look after me re SatNav updates (person now left)) - Holden's Official response knowing all this on 2 May re a car under 2 years old in a 5 year warranty was ' ... we would not be providing coverage for a Satellite Navigation Update for your Holden Calais-V Sportwagon. This decision is based on the range of time in which it would be acceptable to provide coverage for Satellite Navigation Update. From this, we advise that due to such requirements, we are unable be provide any coverage for your Holden Calais-V Sportwagon's Satellite Navigation system. ... Thank you for taking the time to contact Holden regarding your concern and allowing us the opportunity to investigate and assist.'
      2. The inadequate 'unfit for purpose MyLink system' has shown itself to be dangerous even without incorporating autonomous control when it could be deadly should the same GM'H' attitude applies re its future autonomous products. Manufacturers surely need to ensure provisions in place for advertised features being kept up to date and fixed while under warranty. Assume future MyLink / repairs / map updates are unlikely following further model changes. Unfortunately, GM Holden has a different customer support approach than some other manufacturers that better value existing customers such as Hyundai, which may prove to be a deciding factor for my next car. Just because some suppliers like GM'H' get away with charging for repairs to make claimed/charged for features functional while under warranty doesn't make it right. I asked Holden to tell me where it says the Navigation is not covered by warranty or where updates are stated not included in their Warranty docs (maybe there somewhere but I didn't find it either). The Holden Service Manager said it is not written but updates must be paid for; so where do owners under full Warranty stand re Australian Consumer Law? And yes a phone that is updated regularly that is linkable to a slave SatNav system is likely a better solution than relying on a manufacturer providing already out of date maps and a system that is less than reliable. My SatNav also decided last night to indicate on the HUD full pink 'prepare to turn strip' very late (and message to turn into the next street about 10-20m from the corner), then the HUD countdown 'strip' disappeared without reducing as I turned right (correct street at least and only a block from my home). All occurred in less than 3 seconds at 50km/h. Imagine this in traffic or at speed or when unaware of your location or in an autonomous vehicle?
      3. Why is an outdated or SatNav that gets lost acceptable: I called this 'not fit for purpose and dangerous' - another 'GM Insider News' member raised that 'Not of merchantable quality is the term and should be used when talking to anyone who sells you any product that appears to not do its intended function' - Holden seems to want us to believe the problems are acceptable/'normal' and suggest owners pay for updates/corrections (with the hope for an improvement in function as well as new already outdated maps). Please understand I accept new roads occur and maps will be outdated but existing roads at the time of the mapping should be recognised and navigation should be correct as per the selections made by the driver (is it OK to be 'Normal' when sending drivers in the totally wrong direction on a road that has been in the same place for years or getting lost and navigating drivers around in circles)? GM'H' have not given owners a reliable system - if they had then owners could choose if they needed to update maps depending on their travels - not paying for fixes to something that doesn't work at times. VF SatNavs were known to freeze (requiring the car to be stopped turned off then restarted) - an older 'map update' fixed that (I wonder how many people unknowingly paid for that map update or MyLink 'green screen' 'fix' or may yet still get to experience that fixable software problem when out of warranty). In short re 'skylarking' comments above: HCC appears a waste of time re supporting a past model and current customer attitude.
      4. What may now be necessary is, in the interest of all owners, for multiple owners to raise complaints, not to Holden, but to each States Office of Fair Trading asking for a determination re Warranty obligations under Australian Consumer Law and if GM'H' has been transparent/can choose to exclude maintaining under Warranty a product safety/operational feature that is clearly not of a merchantable quality and does not do its intended function. I rang Queensland OFT and they were supportive of investigating this SatNav issue - I will raise my formal complaint next week (may take some time to get answers but what choice do we have under warrantee as even the updates/part fixes are likely going to be dropped by GMH when the opportunity arises after Warranty expires). Owners are currently left with no viable option but accept an inadequately supported defective operating SatNav or stick their phone to the window and not use the cars SatNav features they paid for - no third party options are known to be available currently to 'fix/replace' the GMH MyLink SatNav and even if they were then the remaining 3+ years warranty I have would be voided re the radio system/computers electronics.
      5. Holden is in control of their own future and how they support past customers will be a deciding factor for me re my next purchase.

Our Redline’s SatNav does everything that we were told or expected it to do; except maybe the age of the maps, which we weren’t told anything about (and which isn’t all that uncommon with built-in systems).

I’m not saying it’s good; but it’s as I expected.

Hmm, Holden won’t spend money to fix vehicles still under warranty. Not surprising but such an attitude should not fly w.r.t consumer laws... Maybe i’ll look into that....

Now, if you are listening to a USB thumb drive and want to swap source to something else using steering wheel buttons, the Pandora application is an option that should not be presented as it is a defunct service, but it is presented... Maybe others don’t care maybe they do... I find it a continual reminder of Holden hooking up with a supplier while having no contingencies in place should the provider goes belly up. Such behaviour is the hallmark of a less than professional mob (and shouldn’t be excused).

But each to their own, some are annoyed while others are not...

Yeah, the MyLink features were not a discussion with the sales person prior to me purchasing my machine but I expected more.. which it did not deliver. Poor routing being only one issue.

I get more from my $260 Navman so there is some disappointment considering the cost of MyLink Nav...

We all seem to forget the blurb about the new VF electrical system that should have allowed components and features from the GM parts bin to be easily implemented. Seems such is complete bullsh!t in reality while Holden simply couldn’t care about anything that has gone out the door, warranty be damed.

Yep, and I turn to my Navman so same same but different.

But shouldn’t we all feel a little ripped off after paying good $ for MyLink Nav? It’s not like such was a $trivial option...
