VF SSV Redline Series 1 2015
Hey guys

Long time lurker, first time poster, looking for some advice. Recently picked up a 2015 series 1 SS-V Redline, and was shocked to hear (or not hear) that it really isn't that loud, especially when idling.

Any advice as far as exhaust upgrades go sound-wise? Performance boosts etc. is not on the table at this stage, just looking to up the sound to more like an 8, if that's possible.

Cheers.

Get straight through rear mufflers, the factory ones are super restrictive which also makes them super quiet,if its auto it will have afm and you will want to get that turned off,afm kicking in and out sounds terrible with aftermarket mufflers/exhaust.
First thing I learnt about my vf ssv.
As for cost anywhere between about 250-400ish for rear mufflers,i wouldn't recommend rhino mufflers as mine needed a total rework of the brackets so the tips sat centred and even, cost me a few hours with a welder and fitting and removing numerous times.

Manual cars don't have the active cylinder management thing, so they don't change back to 4 cylinders on the highway, so they don't sound awful with a louder exhaust system.
Automatic cars apparently vibrate your brain into mush on the highway due to nasty 4cyl-mode harmonics if you install a louder exhaust.

We have the "sportiest" model of VF1, the Redline; and when I was talking to our neighbour with the LS3 VF2 Calais he said he was amazed at how ridiculously quiet our car was.

Ridiculous doesn't quite cover it, I used to have a series 2 2011 VE 3 litre V6 that might have had more grunt stock lol. Yes I test drove before I bought, and I was always going to be getting a VF V8. In a perfect world the series 2 LS3 would have been great but unfortunately I came up around 5 to 8 grand short depending on my negotiation skills.

So a straight through setup huh, I might go for a chat to the local exhaust specialists in my neck of the woods tomorrow and see what they have to say. I don't suppose you have a video laying around of what yours sounds like by chance?

Honestly LS3 is better but its only very slight so dont wory about it at all. The 6.0L is great, look for a hsv midpipe for a cheap sound upgrade as it removes the two centre section mufflers. Other than that look for a catback system from any one of the suppliers or secondhand. If performance is on the cars look at getting a full system straight out to save on install costs and then a tune will benefit from less restricted exhaust gases, Xforce have a bimodal rear muffler for on/off noise.

By grunt you mean noise?
Seriously, I’ve driven a 3.6L rental, and if your 6L car doesn’t crap all over a V6 from a great height in performance terms then your V8 might need something attended to.
But if you mean sound ... yeah, can’t disagree. :)

I’d recommend the GEN F GTS mid section and VF 2 bimodal rear mufflers great sound and can be found cheap.

I posted some videos in other threads if you wanna hear what it sounds like

Got a quote for xforce varex cat back 2 1/2" dual exhaust (adjustable mufflers) for $1800 and change.

Not heard the greatest things about xforce though. And from the looks of things I may be able to pick up a bit more sound for a bit less buck...
