I intended to buy a boot liner before we went away last time. Main reason is to prevent scuffing of the boot carpet.

I didn't think of it until I was packing the boot the night before.

As a stop gap I went to Bunnings and bought a heavy rubber mat ($50?) and cut it to suit.

Actually works extremely well. Heavy enough not to slide around and probably deadens a bit of sound as well.

Doesn't have the lip but I don't really need it as I've got a ute for carrying crap around.

I'm not going to bother with the fitted one.

For my wagon I went for a "custom" off the shelf (?) vinyl jobbie from eBay. It goes over the headdrests of the back seats so if they are tilted flat there is full protection.

A little late on the scene but only found this Topic.
Yes, the boot liner is expensive - but not when it is free! I have an excellent dealership with a top-rated sales manager that looked after me from the days when I was deliberating. When it came to buying bonnet and headlight protectors and mud flaps early last year, I was provided with a very agreeable discount.
He called me last year and asked if I would like a boot liner. I asked how much, and his reply was "FREE"! Quickly made may way there and it was still in its original plastic covering.
Very easy to put in and out.
I have never bought a new Holden before, but this dealership would take top honours for personalised service.

I got a genuine one for my VE sedan, sales manager organised one at trade price for me. Fits perfectly, surprising how many little bits & pieces it collects.

I may have to go to Bunnings and buy the $50 mat and a box cutter. Maybe there is enough off it’s left to make a few small boxes I can glue onto the edge of the mat for storage... .... or I’ll just go to Holden and see what products they have on offer. Either or

But am I correct in that earlier sedans had proper tie down points like the wagons? Can they be retrofitted?

My local holden dealer is really well priced as @blakssv said normal $170 I got mine for $100 from the dealer.

One thing I have noticed is if you go in hives you get trade prices no matter what it is your getting or where you work.

I owned a Jul 2013 VF sv6 sedan and now a Feb 2017 VF2 Redline sedan and neither vehicle had any tie down points on the floor.

I like how some of you will spend $150 to protect the boot liner which is only about he same cost to replace. Doesn't make sense. I did make a lining in the VX days I had my VX Commodore then made it fit the VZ. I didn't bother with the VE, VF1 and now the VF2. The rubber liner would be good if you transport wet goods but otherwise it would be extra weight to carry around.

    Perhaps / probably ....

Made sense to me when I negotiated to have boot liner thrown in as part of the deal.

Boot liners are handy for trips to the beach but you’re frowned upon if you throw the kids in the boot  go figure

Ehh with dogs it keeps the carpet perfectly free of hair and sand. Still manages to get everywhere else though.

I want to do the same with the ute to stop things sliding around and damaging the tubliner.

    OEM mat is $260.

    I have genuine one.
Small price to pay for ease of cleaning...
When it's dirty i pull it out...hose the crap off and chuck it back in...
Love it in summer months when tons of sand ends up in it and does not end up in the boot carpet...

Because lawn is lame, we have a veggie garden; which does occasionally involve lugging around bags of stuff whivh can be smelly.
The boot liner means the occasional smelly never gets near anything that it can’t just be hosed off of!
