Hey guys, new series 1 MY15 Redline owner here!

Wow so what were they thinking with that exhaust system eh. sounds like a 4cyl???

Anyway I contacted my trusted exhaust guy and he threw 3 options at me.

Magnaflow Dual, 100 Cel HI flow Cats, Genie 1/34” Tuned Length Extractors .
Power Torque Tune and the VCM OTR Airbox.

Same System, Cats and Extractors, but no Tune or Airbox, but the Engine Light Turned off

Magnaflow Dual

now i do trust these guys they've been at it a long time and one of the owners runs a VF so I assume he'd play swapsies until he was happy (they recommend the 1/34" over the 1/78” due to that reasoning). Fair whack of difference in prices obviously, we also spoke about J Pipes as I had them installed in my Monaro and frankly I liked them but he said the VE/VF has a different setup so they are less of a requirement. Pretty sure we are talking about a 2.5" system.

number 1 or 3, 2 is pointless. probably a 3-4 grand difference.

edit: wrong info updated.

1&7/8 and 3inch for boost. deepest sound.

1&3/4 and 2.5inch for higher end N/a power

4 into 2 into 1 and 2.5inch for lower end N/a power

you think the extractors are pointless without the tune I take it.

yeah the system scales up pretty rapidly from 1600 to near enough to 5k

added info. not much point in freeing up exhaust but not freeing up intake or tuning to take advantage. expensive to only get sound and maybe a small power gain while also ignoring rear 02s

i hear that, last system i bought was mostly for noise reasons.

tempted to go the whole hog, i doubt i'd go a 3" though I feel like they attract too much attention.

anyone have anything good bad or otherwise about the brands on offer?

oh yeah going onto an auto if that matters.

as its a series 1 with AFM, unfortunately yes that will matter more so

exhausts are such a personal preference its hard to give recommendations.
everyone has their own bias, and thats usually what they have on their car, regardless if it is good, bad, or otherwise.
but others you can look at
  • Manta (now also own DPE)
  • XForce
  • Hurricane
  • Harrop
  • KPM
  • Pacemaker
  • Extracted Performance
If you are after something cheaper, which id probably avoid with an AFM car
  • Ultrex
  • Empire

Why not just a catback system ? You'd be saving a pretty penny on no extractors/cats and tune.

If it's just noise you want, this is the go

in my experience a full over catback makes an even better noise.

I have to agree with this, a catback is a poxy mod. that said the 340 catback sounds so good on a stock ls3 i havnt been bothered to do the headers yet.
