    Hi all

I have a series 1 VF SSV redline and started to notice the seats have gotten uncomfortable. The lower back of the seat is the main issue since Im feeling 2 pieces poking me on the bum. Anyone else had this happen to them?

There is a part of the frame / support that runs scross the lower section of the seat back. Is that what you mean? I wouldn't say it "pokes me", more so if I push back hard I can feel it (I can see the sexual inuendo remarks already :p). It's in my lower back area though, not my butt.

We’ve got the sheepskin insert thingies, so probably wouldn’t notice even if we had the same problem.
Could be that the foam is breaking down? A car’s usually way older than 3-4 years before that happens; but maybe it needs new foam? If it’s under warranty, could be claimable.

    *edit*
Also, there are usually springs & stuff suspending bits & pieces from the seat frames; maybe something has come adrift that just needs to be clipped back on? Sooner would be better than later for fixing it, if this is the case.

My seat hasn't lost any comfort but in the last month I've noticed a creaking sound coming from around about where your talking about. Happens when i turn a corner.

Could be a spring but not sure. My car is one of the very 1st VF SSV Redlines from 2013 with the cream suede so the seat is probably in need of more foam. I recently got the seat re-foamed on the side of the seat but they're didn't add more foam to the middle back section of seat where these springs etc are making the seat uncomfortable. I get them to check it over again but was said the seats are rubbish to begin with and my best option is to get GTS seats..

No. The seats are probably in need of more foam because of it's age..

I've got a very early series 1 VF Redline. The ones that had the premium foam, before they cheapened them. No problems so far.

Is your car a high mileage car? Lots of time in the seat?

The Holden accessory; a little exxy for what they are but not too bad, and they fit perfectly.

Car is hitting 90,000km so yeah it's probably wear and tear.

I did 200,000 km’s over 20 years in my Mazda and everything looked new inside and out with absolutely nothing wrong with the seats front or back. Sadly the car was written off by some idiot

So from my Mazda experience i’d say foam collapsing at 100,000 km’s is not ‘wear and tear’ but poor material choice and construction. Seems that’s a common denominator with Holden :(

So who did the rework on your seat, a Holden dealer or someone else? What did they actually do, take the seat out and do a reform on the drivers side bolster?

If the seat ‘pain in the bum’ issue occurred after the seat rework, best to take it back to who did the work as get them to look into it ;)

Hope I have better luck with my MSE than what’s seen by most Holden vehicles (Though the glue failing on the material strip on the bottom leading edge of the sunroof and on the underside of the wheel cover makes me think i’ll have fun with the dealer - not) o_O

A upholstery place in Sydney did the work and yes I've told them and it's getting looked at again. How comfortable are those MSE seats?

MSE seats have felt comfortable so far but i've only been on reletively short drives and not gone for long drives where i'd be sitting in them for a couple of hours.

That sounds like the seat base it was a very common problem with the VF series and usually required a replacement base.

What exactly is in the seat base to make it creak?
