2013 vf ssv wagon
I have a 2013 ssv wagon, its my first commodore so im totally new to everything about them.
Is there a replacement pipe available for the ugly plastic intake abomination that sits between the throttle body and maf?
Im after something that looks neater but keeping the stock airbox and maf.
Not able to afford any tuning yet,so no cash for full exhausts and a otr,the bank account has been totally raped purchasing this rig so no expensive mods just yet...
For now I just want it to look neater.
Is there even such a thing?
Why is it even made to look so boxy and ugly, does it have a purpose?
Apolagies if it has been asked before,my search came up with nothing.
cheers Shannon

Is your SSV manual or automatic? If automatic, I'm told the shape of the intake is designed to damp out the droning noise generated when the AFM is operating during part throttle cruise. I'd suggest that noise would be way uglier than the stock intake's appearance.

If it's a manual, you could probably replace it with a simple elbow. YMMV

Yep its auto, makes total sense now.
Ill just be patient and fit an otr and get it tuned once my bank account recovers.
Thanks for the quick reply.

If you do, get an AFM delete as well. No droning and you have the opportunity to fit a better cam. Might have to save a bit longer but will probably be worthwhile.

There's plenty of cheap air intake pipe to bypass the ugly box available from speed shops and on ebay if you want to have a search.

The dealership made one up for my E Series years ago.

You could get the intake of the series 2 V8’s

that’s what I did and just get a silicon cap to plug the hole where the MSE is.

That looks really good,i have searched but I musnt be typing the right thing in,all I found was some cheap ugly autotechnica intake pipes with open pods and otr intakes, tbh I didn't do a worldwide search because I wasnt sure of fitment in the aussie engine bay? Nothing came up that worked with the stock airbox. Whats the actual name of these intake pipes?

Try searching for 'VF intake elbow'.
