I check my water reservoir weekly. All good except that over the last few months I've needed to add about 500ml 3 times. Any ideas as there are no obvious leaks and the top up is infrequent. Thanks.

How many ks on the car? Check the front of engine under the top hose and look under the engine and transmission for pink coolant stains from a leaking thermostat on the back of the engine.

If the leak is not obvious you will probably need to pressure test the cooling system when the engine is cold. I had a similar problem with my VX Berlina (3.8l) where I had to top up the coolant often. Only found the problem when I did a pressure test on a cold engine. Leak was in the valley between the inlet manifold and the block.
