Hey guys, just brought my dream ute, a MY16 redline ute! Couldn't happier and loving it apart from some paint that needs some love.

My only real issue is a purely cosmetic one in that it has a tow bar installed and I'm wanting to remove it and purchase a cover if that's even an option.

Can provide photos tomorrow if I'm unclear in what I'm talking about, cheers!

Hey mate saw that product, was wanting a cover in the rear bumber for when I remove the tow bar if that makes sense. Wanting a clean ''towbar-less" look. Thanks though!

If you’re going to remove the tow bar completely, you’ll need a new rear diffuser, as when a tow bar is installed, the hole is physically cut out of the existing diffuser

    +1 what @ChRiDDa said ;) in part o_O

FYI, it could be worth reading the VF, WN Accessory Installation Manual in PDF format as it specifies what needs to be done to install a 1600kg tow bar to a ute making it easier to reverse the process to uninstall it :)

You'll find the relevant work description under the following section:
    Code:
        2. Exterior Structural Accessories
            9. Trailer Hitch Draw Bar Package Installation (Ute Tow bar kit 1600kg Inst. 9225316)
        :
        :
        4. Electrical Accessories
            4. Trailer Wiring Harness Package Installation (Fitting Instruction P-N 92270926)
Do note that when installing the TIM module, Holden program the system. This allows the owner to specify whether the towbar tongue is installed within MyLink, thus avoiding reverse sensors going nuts. Whether you actually want to remove the module or not is obviously up to you.

But there was a 1200kg tow bar with a flat tongue that was less in your face. Presumably the tongue could be unbolted and thus removed when not in use. I know other manufacturers provided for such on their flat tongue towbars. If Holden also allowed for the flat tonge to be removed, presumably such an arrangement had some cover to clip over the cut out. If such was indeed the case, maybe search for one of those older style bars and a cover as a Ute without a towbar is not quite right in my view :p

PS: In sedans, a foam crush piece is removed and tossed when installing the towbar. If the ute has the same part (haven't checked) you may also need to source a replacement when removing your bar. The foam is part of the crash protection (at least in sedans) so i'd think you'd want to preserve such engineering if that part is also used in your ute. .

I'd leave it in, a bit of more protection when some rear ends you, at least they are going to get some serious front end damage. You could then trim it up with a protector from Hayman Reece

A dated post and you may have already come up with another option; however, someone else may be interested.

Made up from a chrome finished hitch cover that I purchased from SuperCheap; a piece of waterproof yellow background reflective tape (which I had laying around) and a "Holden HSV Lion Rear Trunk Badge 69mm Silver/Chrome" badge purchased from Ebay.

I had to drill new holes in the hitch cover so that I could fit the locking device though.
