hey team, I’ve got a Curley one someone maybe able to help with.
1st question I’m midway through lowering my VF redline v8 and I don’t know the correct orientation of strut cap to strut base. There is a w notched into the top hat. I’ve read this either faces the same way that the hub bolts into or directly opposite ie facing engine bay. I’ve also used some new whiteline strut top bushings and bearings and now the cars sitting on the ground there’s about 3mm gap
Between the cap that mounts in the engine bay and strut tower, I understand these are meant to move around a bit with steering. How much is too much gap. I’ve done everything by the book.

Nothing in the workshop manual about a W mark. It does say you need to align the spring once seated at a 180 degree to the front clevis. See attacked.

Thank you sir, I’m thinking they are referring to the top mark on the front spring upper seat is the two notches or the w shape that if refer to.
Is the front Clevis the part that the two bolts go through? Some say to align those notches to the bracket for the sway bar. The bracket is 180 deg to the bolt holes where it’s welded on but I’m not sure if they mean where the actual sway bolt goes through? There is a small difference

This will be a couple of posts to fit the images I think.

And yes, front clevis is part the two bolts go through, so using your previous words, locate toward engine bay.

The W mark was reversed for the VE, the earlier ones didn't matter too much but the VE has a angle to both plates so you just match the angle.
The W mark should either be at the clevis or 180 out,
You literally can't stuff this up because the top plate will sit wrong if 180 out.
