Hi Team

So, my vf2 redline has just gone in for service. I am being told that:
1: New brakes are needed
2: Rotors need to be replaced when brakes are changes. They cant be machined

Has anyone had experience with this and does this sound right? $2200 for new brakes doesnt sound right.

How many k's have they done?
This is common if they've done a few k's.
New rotors (front) are 32mm new and min 30mm so not much room to play
Stock brake pads are quite aggressive too

64000km. Not sure if they have ever been changed. Had the car for about 5000k. And I don't drive the car hard. And it's still under warranty.

I am not surprised they need to change the rotors. A few people on here had a similar experience. I think if they machined it and put new pads, after a while, with wear, the rotors would be below minimum thickness.

Check how much they want

New DBA Rotors are about $200 each for 4000 series.
Ton of options for brake pads that will be MUCH cheaper than genuine

If I was you I would buy quality parts and take car to good local mechanic to install.
You are likely to save money this way

Thanks guys. Thats what i said to them. He said 2200. I just laughed. If it wasnt a capped price service i wouldve taken it somewhere else. This is Holden. Im a sucker for punishment i guess. Any ideas on someone in sydney who we trust who wont rip me off. DBA rotors are easy, I just dont know what pads to get. ITs a 2016 vf 2 Redline.
Bendix Brake Pad Set - Ultimate - DB2266ULT

I just bought Remsa pads from Brakes Direct. I had them before. They are good pads. $150 front and rear.

Front pads
0666.32

Rear pads
0434.30

You can also use DBA 4000 series rotors with this setup. Part numbers for this setup are:

Front discs
DBA42604

Rear discs
DBA42074

Where about in Sydney are you ?

Ps. Bendix ultimate are very dusty and super aggressive on Rotors. I had them and would not recommend them.

You can also try DBA extreme performance pads

South west. Canterbury Bankstown area. Repco has your Rotors the other way around? Ill look up brakes direct for parts. I dont track the car. At the moment its the baby chariot until i get a run around for them. So i just need good brakes.
