VF2 SSV REDLINE UTE AUTO
Hey Guys,

Wondering if anyone has any info or stories comparing the utes vs sedans for straight line acceleration?

I have the 17' ssv redline ute and was just curious if anyone knows how they stack up against a sedan.. i assume being a bit lighter the ute would have a slight edge... glad of experiences tho!

Cheers

Same, I think. Wagon is slightly slower.

Actually, a ute body shell is 40kgs heavier than a sedan body shell.

When it comes out to Tare Mass however, the Ute is lighter, as far as i can tell from research its:

Ute: 1720 kg
Sedan 1758 kg
Wagon: 1822 kg

Bugger-all in the grand scheme, just curious if anyone had dragged to compare

Interesting, as I always thought the Ute was a little heavier.

Holden added extra metal to the rear to stiffen them up to make up for the modern Ute’s only using a half chassis.

I clearly remember reading that as part of the VE advertising when they were first released.

In the scheme of things for a street car it's not much and wouldn't matter but 40kg can make a difference when you are into serious racing.

Ute needs 2 bags of 20 kg cement at the back to keep the back wheels in tractions. :D. But seriously, it probably comes down to the reaction time of the drivers.

When I fitted the cargo rails, I got to see most of the rear end 'structure'.

Lot different to earlier designs, definitely 'beefed up', more suited for towing.

I would guess that ute would be negligibly slower due to less traction/less weight at back wheels...
