G'day Fellas,

First post, thought I would try and pick some people's brains.

VF2 SS LS3;

This tinking/high pitch knocking noise from my engine bay just started today, I'm not able to see anything obvious visibly as to what it might be (see Youtube video below).

Any ideas as to what this might be?

Cheers,
Josh

Maybe one of the pulleys or harmonic balancer. Check those for excess play...

Had NRMA look into it for me (Road side) and they said its most likely a pulley, no loose bolts or anything. @Ron Burgundy the harmonic balancer does appear to have a wobble which he recommended replacing with a non OEM part (performance part instead). @Subju oil has been checked and temps were fine, was serviced around 112,000KM and is now at 117,000KM. Will most likely hit up a local mechanic for a looksie.

Cheers

Harmonic balancer fail is not uncommon on these....

Mine only lasted 40 000km

this amazingly complicated diagnostic tool can help narrow down the location of the noise
