VG to VS ute Subwoofer enclosure with measurements (D.I.Y)
After many searches over the net, looking for a sub enclosure to fit into the cavity beside the fuel tank of my ute, and with out much luck. I decided to design a enclosure, to suit my 12 inch sub.
This enclosure would be ideal for a shallow mounted sub. You should be able to use a 10 inch sub for this enclosure as well. Just make sure the sub you have or purchase is suited to a 31 Litre enclosure!
Feel free to use this for a sticky as it would be ideal!
What you will need
$60
18mm M.D.F
Two G clamps
Jigsaw
Drill
Piece of 4 by 2 (to use as a guide for the jigsaw to get a clean straight cut)
Wood screws
Liquid nails
All purpose silicon
Sample pot of paint
Can of clear spray paint
Get bunnings to cut the M.D.F to size for you. That way, all you will need to do is cut the front and side pieces at a 128 degree angle.
Plans
Completed with Silicon
After being painted and sub installed
Yes I know the sub is upside down, as the speaker wire terminals stopped the sub from fitting in properly. lol
Subwoofer Fitted (If useful)
Product Name: FEW-12 FUSION ENCOUNTER SUBWOOFER
VAS 100 L
QTS .343
QMS 4.155
QES .374
RMS Power 200 Watts
Peak Power 400 Watts
Sens (1W/1M) 91dB
Xmax (Pk to Pk) 22.5mm
Xmax (1 way) 11mm
Freq. Response 23Hz - 3KHz
Fs 27Hz
Voice Coil 2" Kapton SVC
Impedence 4 ohms
Mounting Diameter: 10.09" / 277mm
Mounting Depth: 5.02" / 127.5mm
Outside Diameter: 12.24" / 311mm
The Result
Sound Quality: The bass is much more deeper, due to better excursion.
The bass is now not muffled as the sub was originally placed behind the passenger seat, mounted in a custom enclosure, that I paid good money for!
