Just finished fitting a 7HDD 4l60E into a VH SL/E 3.3litre (202) blue.
Parts required ...
1. CAE Rod Shop ..
bellhousing to block adapter plate
Transmission cross member adapter and mount
Speedbox and cable mechanical drive speed converter
2. Weber Performance (Vic)
Throttle position sensor (to suit your carb .. mine for triple DCOE45 Webers
3. VY or VZ shifter and console
4. Shorten front drive shaft, balance and fit 4l60E yoke
5. Wholesale Automatics (Vic)
Compushift Pro gearbox controller and harness
6. A good transmission oil cooler
7. Modifications required ....
VY/VZ shifter will need some heat bending to clear the gearbox.
The neutral safety switch needs adapting to the VY/VZ shifter
A flat plate will need to be made to bolt the shifter onto floor mount. (If keeping the original console a Dropbox is needed
Depending on your engine mounting position you may need to "squash" the drivers rail where the gearbox pan may just touch. (See photos)
Adapt or make a torque converter cover plate
8. We used a VE hi-stall converter which bolted straight onto the original trimatic flexplate with about 1mm of filing of the holes.
9. A flexible oil level dipstick and tube.
10. Of course a good 6HDD or 7HDD 4l60E

The Compushut is awesome!! Fired up without a hitch and eliminates the need for the original gearbox harness and controller and being an electric box and NOT a TR700 with TV cable makes the instal easy as.

AUTOMAC TRANSMISSIONS Norma Road Myaree did the excellent work of fitting and assisting in conversion.

Console setup doesn't look too bad be way better if there was blue version to match.

Not sure about 4l60e with v6 or straight 6 conversion but do know stock tailshaft & yoke will easily fit efi v8 with 4l60e/th700 also can use trimatic shifter just drill out hole to take 4l60e selector rod & adjustable bolt.

What is speedbox like to use? Is it delayed/slow when accelerate or hit brakes hard?
Tried it out in any tunnels?

Thanks for comments. Hot 202 easily handles the 4l60E no probs.
Speedbox is instant. No probs. Can use GPS and or VSS. Very accurate no delays.

Update on this. Have discovered a few things. Standard VH auto shifter works on 4l60E with no modifications. I found a supplier who makes the 4 speed auto console indicator panel. Works perfectly. Also just some info ... all neutral safety switches from VB right through to VS are interchangeable with the only alteration being to the plugs on the end.

Looks so much better than the VY set up.

All I did with mine is get an indicator panel off a later model and have the width reduced. It works fine. The person who did it for me trimmed it using a bench saw. He had his fingers far closer to the blade tham I would have ever done.

Yeap agreed, I love a custom build, but definitely the VH shifter just looks right
