vh cruise control vacume hoses

hey there, i have a vh sl/e with a vn 304 and t700. i have been trying to get the cruise control to work but cant figure it out. i can hear it trying to work, when i press the button when driving i can hear it engauge and when i put my foot on the brake i can hear it click off. it just doesnt do anything but that. i think i may have the vacume hoses conected the wrong way?
other than that can anyone tell me how to test the transducer?
