dose anyone know if the vh diff with the auto they came out with is any different from the manual one

nope, just the ratio maybe a little diff.

there are basically 2 diffs fitted to the VH
the small and large (10 bolt) Salisbury

6 cylinders & most 4.2L (excluding SS) were fitted with the same smaller salisbury. The V8 had a larger uni-joint flange fitted though and of course there both disc & drum brake setups depending on model.

5L were fitted with the larger 10 bolt Salisbury. The autos eg SL/E were often fitted with tall gears eg 2.6:1 whereas the manuals were fitted with 3.08 gears
