Vh SLE shadow tone

Iv being told that the Vh SLE shadow tone paint codes on late cars have only 1 paint code and u have to identify if it's a true shadow tone by the trim code. Is this true?
I have just picked up a OCT83 381 pack with both paint codes on the tags. Is this rare?

I know all the codes on tags just was hearing from people like yourself that the late ones have just the mercury code on the paint and the trim will tell u if it's shadow tone. But hear is the car I just bought for 700. It has both paint codes

And some had theirs added by paint shops in the late 80's when these things were popular.

I have a shadow tone 83 SLE and im sure it shows indigo blue and mercury silver paint codes.

On the build plate there should be a top and bottom colour.

top is blank unless it had a vinyl roof or it had 2 tone paint (eg. airforce cars are blue bottom, white roof). This goes for shadowtone as well.

Ok I found out wot the deal is. To help others I'll explain. This is wot I was told by a Expert about these cars.

Up until the end of 1981 the tags had

MODEL- xxxxxxx
BODY- xxxxx
TRIM- xxxxxx
PAINT- xxxxx
TOP- xxxxxx
ENG- xxxx TRANS- xxxx. AXLE xxx

From 1982 they deleted the TOP and replaced it with BUILT. 1982 factory shadow tone cars got 1 code for paint (mainly the mercury silver 2J011) but
In 83 quite a few got 2 on the paint line separated with a /


MODEL- xxxx
BODY- xxxx
TRIM- xxxx
PAINT- xxxx / xxxx
BUILT- xxxx
ENG- xxxx. TRANS xxxx. AXLE- xxxx
