    Gday,

ive bought a victor junior carby style intake manifold a FAST 1300cfm throttle body with a fuel system. pics are in my profile for those interested. ive spent the last week or so polishing the manifold. probably gonna spend the next few weeks polishing it till it looks shmic! what im after is if there is anybody on here with any experience with the manifold setup, including installation and tuning. im going to dummy fit it this week, while my ute's out of action due to a stuffed gearbox. just after tivial stuff like will the standard intake bolts be long enough. does the throttle and cruise cables fit up witout any drama's.
also any success stories how much difference its made HP gains etc.
    cheers

okies started the install today, run into a few plumbing problems- nothing a little thinking outside the box and customisation wont fix, this is how it looks so far.

which bolts? the ones that fix the fuel rails in place. theres a custom mount welded to the manifold for them, the manifold is originally for a carby, injector holes were drilled and the fuel rail mounts put in place, all holds together nicely, my only concern is the injectors are held into the fuel rail by th rails themselves, on the standard fuel rails theres a retaining clip that holds them in place. the fuel lines will hard wire directly into the factory fuel lines. the regulator i got is crap so ill be getting a new one later.
gonna get a hole cut in the bonnet for the massive filter :p

Yea thats going to be the business, I wouldn't worry too much about your injectors being only held in by the fuel rail, most injectors on Jap cars are held in that way with just an o-ring on the top and a rubber seal/seat for the bottom.

*EDIT: Is there a bushing that goes over the fuel rail bolts to hold the rail at a certain point away or does it just continually tighten till the injectors are pushing against it? probably would need some sort of bushing or spacer to hold them rails at a certain sealing point on the o-ring on the injector.

some food for thought. ill use the standard fuel rail as a guide to make sure i get the correct sealing point.

the other problem ive got it finding bolts to bolt the manifold down i need ones half the size of the factory ones.

next problem is getting the cables to connect to the throttle body, im thinking just using washes
i wont install the whole thing properly yet as im polishing the manifold up, also making a loom to relocate the coil paks and i havea set of polished aftermarket rocker cover going on there
im going for te old skool look

You may find you need a bracket to hold the outer of the cable and have that attached to the manifold or t/b. How many cables are there? what are you going to do choke wise?

yep gonna use the standard bracket off the original throttle body, mount it vertical on one of the bolts that holds the throttle body to the manifold.

have 2 cable: accelerator and cruise control. ill take some pics of the mounting issue ill have soon

    theres no choke

    cheers for the advice mate

not getting very far lol, i need a fuel line fitting, some bolts to suit the manifold and a few other things, but this project has been put in the too hard basket for now while i save money to fund getting my gearbox rebuilt.
