Welcome to Just Commodores, a site specifically designed for all people who share the same passion as yourself.
R12 was put in years ago when the drier was replaced.
I had to take the control off the dash to replace the vac lines
which was a bit involved as some numbers had fallen off.
Another thing I did was take the control apart and cleaned the slides with metho
and clean the blower fan as it had leaves and stuff in it.
Another thing I did was got 5 small hose joiners and extended the factory vac lines and renumbered them, made it easier to reinstall the control.
Vk Berlina has done a air con feature on here.
God I love my VK.
When I first installed the 4.9 V8 (into my VK SL 3.3 EST donor) & had the a/c re-gassed, at normally driving speeds it was good but at low speeds or stopped in traffic it wasn't very effective at all. After speaking with an AC expert he advised to replace the small factory 2 blade AC condenser fan with a larger 10 inch SPAL skew pusher type. Made a huge difference, only issue now is the compressor is a bit noisey!
When I fitted the engine & connected the AC up, I put in a new dyer in then & had to have the test points changed as the machine could only accept later 134a fittings. The system was vacuumed & tested, oil added then recharged. Tx value is still the original (to the best of my knowledge). Was it regassed with 134a or something else? Did it need flushing and a new Tx valve etc
