Hi guys, posted this in the car audio thread but got no joy out of it so maybe someone in here knows.

Does anyone know if there is a replacement mast available to suit a vb-vl elec antenna, don't particularly want to go thru the hassle of replacing the whole unit and having to take most of the dash apart. The rope on mine is busted.
Cheers

for starters you dont have to pull most of the dash out actually barely any of it

Remove the inner guard
Remove the kick panel
remove the under glovebox trim

Undo the screws fitting it & and mast nut and remove 30min job max

your best bet would be an after market semi auto antenna

cheers

Cheers Scott, I was under the impression that the antenna cable ran over the glovebox, although can't exactly remember, has been a few years since I've done one. Getting to the back of the radio will be the fun part from what I remember with the stock items.

Yeah but the cable goes all the way from the antenna to the radio.

so you need to remove the radio to disconnect/re connect it then feed it thru the firewall.

You might be able to get behind the radio to pull the antenna cable through the speaker cover on top of the dash, assuming the VK has one those....

forgot about the antenna cable, you can undo it from behind the ash tray if your good, one tip with the antenna cable, tape a draw cable to it, pull it back then when you fit the new antenna, pull the cable through.

cheers

cant you just remove the antenna from the guard, cut the old antenna cable, install the new one and tape the new cable to the old one and just pull it through using the old cable?

Yep, I think the point is the dash does not need to be removed.
