Some new pics...

Plan B! The 253 is cactus......so, we'll chuck the 308 in, problem solved. Only bought it last week. Just needs new welch plugs and a new sump gasket, as the sump was changed over from a Kingswood sump.

I thought I'd take photo's of this coz alot of people don't realise how easy it is to change welch plugs. Only thing is, normally when they start leaking, people fix them when the motor is still in the car. We rip the f**ker out coz it doesn't take very long these days. But here's how they're done anyways.....

Use something to hit the edge of the welch plug in. A bigger hammer is better.

Now the plug will either pivot in the middle, or pop in...either way it's no biggy. Grab it with some pliers and just pull it out. A bit of force is normally required.

Sometimes it's easier to put sumfin under ur pliers like in the pic, so it gives ya more pivot, which makes it easier. Then just pull it out.
3.jpg

Once removed, get some sand paper and rub around the inside of the hole, just to clean off any ****.
4.jpg

Then use some gasket goo to put around the inside of the hole, as seen in the middle hole. This is to just help it seal. We use a Loctite non-hardening sealant, which we use for all our gaskets.
5.jpg

Place the welch plug over the hole, and use a socket to sit inside the plug, the socket needs to be a fraction smaller then the plug. Then start tapping it with a hammer to push it in. A bigger hammer is better, I use a 4lb hammer....still small, but got some weight behind it. Tap the plug in so it sits flush with the block, I wouldn't go any further then say 1mm into the block.

And the finished product! Good for another 20 years! :)

Lobes havin a piss......just pisses where he wants haha.

Doing up the oil pickup. The pickup and sump was changed from HQ to Commodore, so just have to do it all up.

Lobes on the phone....again lol.

Spotted this just b4. The hole is there coz it leaks water when the seals are gone in the waterpump. And by the looks of this she's been leaking....so will chuck another waterpump on to be safe.

Does that first comment even make sense?? And yeah we got a bit of **** lying around, and it's a concrete floor, not dirt. We'll build a motor where ever we want. Just coz it's not the cleanest workshop around doesn't mean we can't work in it.

Small update, took it for a spin. Fixed the noisy trans, and the small oil leak which was leaking on the exhaust.

Got a smaller cleaner to go on when the bonnet goes on.

But since going to the first dirt circuit race meet this season in Pirie, Brad wants to get our race car ready for the next meet so he's been doing a bit of work on that....well pinched the motor back out of my wagz and put in it. Might make up some fibreglass panels for it and give it a quick respray as well.....got till the 21st of March.

The VH is pretty much ready to register tho so I'm not sure y he doesn't really wanna rego it right now.

Who gives a flying f**k if his workshop has **** lying around.

Just cause everyone doesnt have a gold plated workshop doesnt mean he cant still work in it...
