Crunching may need more clutch adjustment or tired worn box.

Can also try holding pedal down then putting it in 1st/2nd before reverse.

6cyl pedal box still works pivot points are different which may make pedal feel harder to push in(?)

6cyl pedal box won't fully move the clutch throwout lever (longer in V8s) as far as it should go
= crunchy gear changes

the V8 pedal box (different pivot point and longer cable hook) is a must

Interesting as years ago sold couple of 6cyl pedal boxes to blokes doing manual v8 conversions even after telling them pivot points are different & could take their auto pedal box to Dellows to get converted properly.

Is common for tired t5 box to crunch,2nd to 1st or reverse trick seems to work most times.

Just as important is to set up the clutch fork "position" correctly!

A v8 clutch has more movement 10 or so mm as apposed to 6cyls only having 6 or so mm for operational clearance hence the different pedal pivot points .........
