Just to add whats been already noted, the band was welded just below tank seam so filler neck and sender unit was not affected.

Also early VN tanks were 80 litres,
the later VR VS tanks for the V8 excecutive, SS, berlina, calais and bt1, were modified to be a 73 litre capacity, done to get extra clearance for muffler and butyl strip was used on side of tank for heat protection from muffler. The statesman and caprice were also reduced.

The VN sender plug has 3 pins but 2 of them are joined. The wiring was just 2 wires which were the same colour as the VK (Black & Tan) so I just joined the same colour wires together and then filled the tank and checked gauge and it worked fine.
Its the outside 2 pins of the 3 pin plug and the resistance for the float levels is pretty much the same for the different tanks so gauge should be accurate
