i am sumwhat experianced when it comes to wiring up headunits im on my 4th one on the vz all i can say is thank god for the adaptors when your into ICE and looking for the optimal product i suggest adaptors as its easier to get a new adaptor then continually shortening your factory wiring loom i have encountered a problem with my current pioneer head unit that i should of look into before i bought it its a 2 din unit WITH NO POWER ARIEL CONNECTION not that i listen to the radio anyways but yeah i just wired it into a constant power source so it was always up it only took me one flat battery to scrap that idea i now manually extend retract the ariel lol

Guys, you should have a solid white wire and a solid blue wire in the stock stereo wiring loom?

I think you need to connect your blue wire coming from the aftermarket head-unit to the white wire in the stock wiring loom. If that dosent work connect it to the blue wire in the stock wiring loom. Cant remember which one exactly.

In my VX II CLUBSPORT the constant is not orange/white or the possible orange/purple I believe its orange/black as by process of elimination leads me to believe this being the only one left, holden must have run out of the other two colours hey, anyone had this.

Check the wiring with a test light or multimeter?

Have a few discrepencies with the wire colours i found behind my HU.

Instead of the ones listed in the first post, i had:

    Brown/Black
    Grey
    Orange/White

    So im missing the

    Blue - Ant Down
    White - Ant Up
    Orange Constant

Anybody got any idea's/revisions? Unit is the stock Eurovox tapedeck out of a 2000 VT SII

Note to self: Be fully awake before posting asking for help:idea3:

    The colours i DID have:

    Yellow - Accesories
    Blk/White - Earth
    Brown/White - Illumination
    Yellow/Black - Radio Mute
    Yellow/Red - 12v Output

Had no blue for andt down or white for ant up, as for constant, will check for the orange/black tomorrow. The closest i had to white was grey?

My question is similar to above,

I have no blue or white wires for the ariel. Is there a way of having it so when I turn on the ignition the ariel goes up and when I turn it off it goes down? Using the switched live maybe? Looking into the wing, the wires coming from the antenna are red and white, but there's no red and white behind the hu.

Also, now when I turn my ignition on the handbrake warning beeper sounds - why???

I have an '02 VU SS by the way

Thanks in advance for your help.

The yellow wire with the red stripe is actually the power antenna control wire, connect your blue or blue / white wire to this and the antenna should go up and down with the stereo.

Im not sure why the handbrake beeper sounds, what type of head-unit did you install? If it was a DVD player and you had to hook up the "safety" wire to the handbrake switch this maybe causing the problem, other than that its anybodys guess.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't have a yellow and red wire though :(
I have a yellow (switched live), yellow with black stripe, yellow with blue, brown. The rest are speakers, permanent live (orange and brown) and earth wires.

Which of the above do you think it could be?

I may do trial and error. With a pack of spare fuses to hand!

Yep, all the commodores ive done have had a yellow / red wire......what i do with other cars to find the power antenna wire is just grab a small length of spare wire and link the constant power with whatever wire i think the power antenna one is. Sometimes its illumination (dash lights just come on) and sometimes its earth (obviously blows a fuse), but most of the time i can get the right one.

I would say its one of the broken (striped) yellow wires youve listed.

Its been covered a few times. Basically you need to cut the rear speaker wires before they go into the pillar below the front seatbelt bolt, remove the sill panel covers and you'll see a fairly large wiring loom....find the correct wires (be absolutely sure you have the right ones) then cut them one at a time, attach your new speaker wires to these (solder / tape or heatshrink) and run them with the main loom up to the side of the back seat, run them behind the back seat and up to the parcel shelf. ;)

Best way is to get yourself a $5.00 test light and test each of the orange / black wires. Come to think of it are you sure there is TWO orange wires with a black stripe? I did one the other day and there wasnt an orange wire with a white stripe, only one with a purple stripe.
