    nup...

all the same (lower) compression engine due to ULP

Holden dropped comp fractionally when they changed the engine
    for the new fuel

As Smitty has replied, the VL BT1 V8 were stock standard. I do recall that the VK BT1 V8s had the larger valve heads (A9L engine code??) which were claimed to be the same as those used on the Brock or HDT cars of that day.

In the VL BT1s, the RB30ET (turbo) in manual was the one to get. I miss the one that I had all those years ago.

without going into the long story.... only MANUAL V8 BT1s (either L31 or LV2 engined) had the large valve
heads as part of the V5H or V7X engine option used in these cars
Note these engines were NOT A9L versions as lots say

The large valve heads were used on the HDT cars (Grp A SS LM5000 etc)

heard only the manual VK BT1 got the B cast heads.
Would love to see a mint baby blue VL BT1 these days, stock on the outside and brocked under the bonnet.
