in advance, sorry if this has been covered already but couldn't find it.

Have a VL 5.0 and the carbby intake/cleaner setup doesn't look right. Points across to the passenger side. Have seen rare images of others' VL and VK v8's setup like this and wondering why mine is like this and what I need to do to correct it so cleaner sits ontop with the silencer like factory setup.
it was previously run on LPG if that makes a difference. LPG no longer running and is on Unleaded.

Thanks in advance. Image of current hood setup attached.

You have the LPG air cleaner currently fitted...This is similar to what you should have

You will have to unbolt it, via the nut on top...It maybe held on top of the carb by silicone, so it may need a little muscle to remove it

Cheers for the quick response.
So unbolt current setup and replace it with just that silencer?
I assume cleaner fits direct to Carb ...

Yes, direct fit...You will have to remove the hose that goes to the LPG mixer

Here's another picture of them

Just do a google image search of VK and/or VL air cleaners and they pop up

Easy done. Will adjust properly as soon as I have the old LPG setup safely decommissioned. Factory air cleaner ready to go and will just have to order silencer.
Thank you again mate.

Hey guys,

Just on this, Ive decided I want to run a round assembly air filter/cleaner direct to the carby without silencer for now.
Wanting it to also have a polished top plate Cover as seen attached in image too So i can throw some Holden decals on it. Problem is K&N site doesn't show an assembly for the VL.

Hope someone can direct me for the right K&N model to suit the VL 304 carby motor.
