my vl commodore justs cranks over but no start. iam struggling on this for last 4 days, the real fault is i cant get the injector pulse when cranking,we got 5v at distributor input and output, ground and 12v ignition. we have fitted new crank angle sensor, ecu, air flow meter, ign coil but we got spark just cant understand whats shutting down the injectors, also got ign 12v to injector connectors but cant get the noid light flashing when cranking also cant fault the timinng of the engine.
hmmm. Thats a tough one. It's take a lot to shut down the injectors. Have you checked out the EFI relay? This will cause a no pulse situation. I'm not completly sure that the VL has one. Is the fuel pump priming? Is the tacho jumping when you crank it?
well ive had this problem for a quite a while too me and a few mechanics and elecs to figger it out did all you did and more reason you have no injector pulse is that once the computer goes under 9v in power it turns off, once thats turned off you dissy doesnt receive its power supply resulting in you having - no spark or very weak - no injector pulse and the fuel pump wont run do a voltage drop test on the starter when you crank it and see what the power goes too do a voltage drop test on the ecu and see what that drops out at too is the engine turning over slowly? like not as quick as it use too as my problem was from a half seized engine, the engine could turn over but not as quick as normal causing the starter too draw extra power too try and make it spin but when it did it was taking the power from the ecu so it wouldn run
Help me!! hey im havin trouble witih my VL it has no spark or fuel pump power and the lights in the computer will not light up! i have changed cas, computer relays fuses checked wiring loom and is all ok but still no power? its giving me the shits!
Sorry about that i thought it would be easier to tag onto this thread because i am having exactly the same issue with my car, which i use to tow & have a meet coming up soon.
soz man Generally no spark is a CAS problem either failing of the plug ontop. as well as power transistor and coil then leads and plugs... EFI relay as well good luck let us know
I have a 6cyl vl auto that ran rough, then backfired and stopped running. Have no spark at the coil lead or spark plugs, so replaced the crank angle sensor, ignition module, distributor cap and rotor and plug leads to no avail. The LEDs on the e.c.u. dont light up with the ignition turned on and the adjuster screw for the self-diagnosis turned fully anticlockwise, as per the manual. This is suppose to indicate either a lack of power at the e.c.u. plug or a dead unit. Is this the case? as I have just replaced the e.c.u. with a s/hand one and still the same result. Running out of ideas and money, any ideas please. R.G.
