thanks for that info mate., im lookin at buying extractors soon. or wen i drag ill jsut take the whole system off and have nothng lol, bit loud tho.
i was at the lights on mountain highway 2 days ago, and i was next to a pulsar, belive it or not, i revved my engine, he revved his, ( sounded like shitbox) and we took off. he beat me by about 1 1/2 car length but as it was near the end i was only in gear 2 and catchinh up. i rekon if the race was about 1 kilometer i wud take him, sure his car is fast pickup, but i rekon top range i wud beat him.
    anyone agree? or not really

Most volvo's are slow because of the driver, not the car...

DAMN, the other night my mate wanted to see how fast i could get to 100km/h in the calais, 7.3sec it was on slight uphill, and done by mobile phone stop watch. i was disapointed:cry: thought it would at least be mid 6sec.... oh well more mods.

anyway on topic, give your mate a go from standstill and then do one from say 60km/h - 110km/h and see if there's any differance.
also my mates got a vl 5spd stock and that thing goes alright, would flog a pulsar i recon:)

Yeah the 5 Speeds go really good. (Don't worry, I'm not biased:D )

1st gear is quite ordinary, but I love 2nd and 3rd.

The 5 speed VL's are in the low 9's for 0-100, so 2 seconds quicker than the VL auto...

Why is the auto version so much slower in the VL's? In the VN/VP's and onwards the auto's are as quick and often quicker than the manual variants...

So true. Some of those things are turbo/intercooled.

If I ever get a second hand turbo id get one off a Volvo(never been used!)LOL

    Pajero LWB Wagon, Power/economy what's that ???

I don't understand why the autos are that much slower. In the Skyline the auto is less than 0.5 of a second slower than the manual, same motor (+4kWs) and gearbox, makes no sense. 11 seconds is an average as I have seen a few magazine tests with the auto at low 10 second 0 - 100 and some only just under 12. VLs are famous for the discrepencies between cars. I test drove two VL Autos for the JJD twin tyre mob, both cars stock and same Ks, and it was like they had different motors. Over the years I've driven many with the same sort of difference. Doesn't take much to make them move though.

aint the diff ratios in skylines diffrent to vls, all vl 6s have 3:45 and i think it was skyline had 3:7 diff, so that could possibly awnser the time diffrence

    edit:
after looking on many thread on calais turbo i come up with a simular consistant awnser
this could explain why there quicker

maybe after the extractors you might go for a closer ratio diff if your low down poke is no good closer ratio and if it's an auto higher stall. This way your launch is at higher rpms and your gears are closer.
