    Hey Guys

So I decided to take the VL out for a drive, seeing as she's been looking sad at the end of my street.
She started after some effort, and was running extremely rough, once she warmed up she smoothed out, so I went for a cruise.
About 200m from my house, on the way home, she starting sputtering, backfiring, and blowing thick black smoke before finally cutting out.

So now I've realised it has no spark.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas about what I can do to get her running again, they'd be much appreciated.

My first guess would be a CAS

I'd second that. Or a fuel pump or blockage?

My mother-in-laws car was doing the same thing.I fiddled with it several times, changed this, cleaned that.Went fine for a day or so.3 mechanics did same as me,but again went fine for a while.I decided to strip down the dizzy, and found the retaining screws to the CAS,we just about to fall out!!!! Tightened them, and WOW,that fixed it!!! Bloody mechanics, cost a fortune--me,free--so take your time, read all from this site, and have a crack--car now running perfectly, cold mornings, hot days.
    Good luck.

My VL was doing that recently, without the smoke/sputtering but it was losing power and stalling/dying, replaced the CAS and she runs fine now!
