[308] Vl heads???

I've been told vl 304 Carby heads are the same specs as L34 from the Vh commie 308s but are unleaded safe, is this true?

After the first seat cut any hardening to the cast iron seat that may have been present is gone.

What I am saying is that NO Holden cast iron head had hardened exhaust valve inserts like an alloy head would, or, like you would have fitted when you have your heads serviced.
All the factory cast iron heads had hardening applied to the cast iron on the seat, which helped protect it.
Flash forward 30yrs and there ain't too many old cast iron heads that either A; have not had the seats cut for a service or B; Do not need the seats cut for a service.
The hardening is only skin deep so any cutting of the seat will remove any protection that "may" have been applied by Holden at the factory.

Ah cool, so really ulp gains are neglegable..

nfi what this means but what bloke is saying is you will get seat inserts to survive ulp as part of your recondition.

Ha ha ulp is unleaded petrol, I meant the be might of vl heads was the harder seats but thanks for leaning it up for me:)
