when I did it, I just cut all the pins off the chip, then unsoldered the pins one at a time. use a machine drilled socket, its only 2 bucks from jaycar. I had to hit both sides of the socket with the iron to get good contact with all the tracks. its pretty hard to get round the wrong way, the board has a white semicircle printed on it for you. you also need to be careful, I was reading that you can pop your hotwire air flow meter like a fuse if the chip isnt soldered in right.
