oh interesting, thanks for posting that up.

I reckon the complete fuse box setup should have been fixed too.
Mine completely melted, lucky it didn't catch fire.

yah that is a intressing point why didnt holden do anyhting with the fuse box, suppose the fuse box prob might have only started to affect teh plastic when teh cables and the plastic rail got old in the box

i was just looking at that sticker on the wagon today and wondering what it was for, mine goes 86-H-01 so what does that one stand for?

it was the first recall,

Problem: INSTRUMENT WIRING DAMAGED
Make: HOLDEN
Model: Commodore VL, Calais
Variant: Auto

Defect: 6 Cylinder models with automatic transmission only. Instrument wiring located in the centre console can be damaged by the automatic transmission selector mechanism.

Just wondering why they melt? Is it heat from the engine or heat from the wiring/fuses themselves?

its from using too high wattage globes, stuff like that, it over heats it, fuse blows & then melts.

Lots & lots of VLs with melted fuserails/boxes, & few VK's too....

There is a PCB for VLs that seems to be pretty good replacement, fair sure there was a guy on the net (ebay, CT?) selling them at one stage.

Read the post.. front drivers side door... in the door jam....

if you have no sticker ur car wasnt recalled.
