G'day,
Could someone tell me what the trick is to removing the black electrical connection to the fuel sender unit on the back of the fuel tank? I am putting in a new internal pump and cant move the sender plate far enough out of the tank.

Thanks,
Nof

the whole thing will come out but you may need to try several ways, the outer part needs to be moved around quite a bit as it has several sharp bends in the tubing support inside, its a tube arrangement that holds the internal pump and measuring float, arm, sender, etc
also the sender float and arm can become caught up inside
increase the space under the floor of the car to make things easier

note the exact location of the filter bag on bottom of internel pump and replace new one likewise, the filter bag needs to be able to sit in the swirlpot below to operate properly
anyone ever seen the swirlpot ? , how big is it?
the gasket can be got from a holden dealer
despite claims of both pumps being hard to find, I found both easily available and in several brands
the age of the external pump can be judged aprox by the amount of corrosion on the outer metal housing
BTW the external pump can be removed by undoing the screw on the circular clamp, it slots in at the other end
all fuel hose clamps need to be tight due to the extra pressure
