A fresh start on my baby blue VN Executive V8:)

Had the car for 5 years now and has had many upgrades along the way.

Paid $3,500 for it after it had been crashed into a gutter. Had books upto 122,223kms (129,000kms) when I purchased it. It was spotless inside the car - almost unmarked. Paint had begun the fading process. The car was first purchased in July 1991 and serviced until July 2001 when it had 122,234 kms. It was then at some point before 129,000kms stolen and smashed into a gutter. The bloke who purchased it had it "stored" for just over 3 years as a "roundtoit" job. One day I said to him if he came accross a good V8 - I'm very interested. Bingo purchased it using my credit card:whistling - cos I had to have it.

The damage to the car was that the diff was 10mm to the right, front strut on the left side bent back and cil panel all stoved in. Needed a new water pump & exhaust.

The upgrades begun......

The car came with upgraded 80L tank, extractors and window tint - but that was it.

This donor car supplied the Calais goodies inside, grill, front & rear bumper bars and rims.

Plus the LSD diff:thumbsup:

So the first "style" was to make it into a Calais. And that worked well withthe donor car giving up all the good bits for a few hundered dollars. And a few weekends work stripping the guts out. I've basicly done an anti-Morton-Greenfoam and added weight the the Exec :)

First real upgrade was climate system out of a Statesman including the L3 cluster & loom. The fuse holder had melted itself to a blob, also Calais dash badge

Also had country pack suspension fitted to raise the car up a bit (bad back - so low is bad)

The Calais donor car was V6. I scabbed all the Calais interior, lights, seats, rims, LSD, grill front and rear bars for my V8. Then the donor car was sold off as an V6 Exec:whistling for $1750. I paid a little more than that - $2,000 from memory. Good deal back 5 years ago.:yeah:

Yes on my own too - took 4 days - 1 complete day to get the heater box copper pipes back in the fire wall. swapp the loom over, and put it all back together with fingers x'd that it would work. It did and I was saved.:D
