u want the arc of the rocker to help with lift, if it goes too far one way past mid then it will be moving in or out in the arc and that means its not pushing down giving the lift it should, some good rocker setup in this bout mid page https://www.jesel.com/instructions

David Vizard seems to know a lot about rocker geometry, but he never explains it and starts rambling on about some other crap and never finishes explaining anything.

Trans build 4L60:
Went to see trans builder this morning, drop off some nice new shiny parts
Had the new drum setup and testing friction/steel clearances which will be set @ 0.047" (recommended 0.040-0.060"), so we are inside that.
  • The friction and steels are much larger diameter than standard 4L60/60E-75E plates as they are a specially made to fit inside the drum which has been machined inside, and came with drum from USA
  • Billet front input shaft now on hub
  • Couldn't use the 4160E and up billet rear output shaft i have as need to run governor for hydraulic valve body. However upgraded to new OEM rear output shaft and had it cryogenic treated, which was best I could do as looked globally on sourcing a billet rear output shaft but couldn't turn one up
  • New Sonnax heavy duty reaction shaft kit alongside OEM reaction shaft (pic 1 alongside drum)
  • The open end of drum has been machined and aluminium cover plate screws on with 5 supporting grub screws which lock down into drum body to support and hold drum together to stop it flaring out and remove heat from moving the original circlip design (now removed) and friction plates
  • We will be using Raybestos RCPC15/ #37304K Red's (stage 1) for all frictions/plates except the 3-4 forward frictions/plates https://www.raybestospowertrain.com/friction-clutch-packs/rcps-15
    • 4 x Reverse Input Clutch Friction Plates - 153 OD x 1.78mm x 41T
    • 2 x Overrun Clutch Friction Plates - 128 OD x 2.00mm x 36T
    • 5 x Forward Clutch Friction Plates - 135 OD x 1.78mm x 41T
    • 5 x Low & Reverse Clutch Friction Plates - 164 OD x 2.20mm x 25T
  • The front Planetary has been upgraded from 4 gears to 6 gears which also now changes 1 and 2nd gear ratio from 3.06/1.63 to 2.84/1.55, which will be interesting to see how this goes
  • Rear planetary although not shown is also upgraded from 4 gears to 5.
  • Should be finished this time next week

Definitely keen to see how that new 1st/2nd gear goes. The stock 3.06 first gear is ridiculously short when you fit some proper diff gears in the rear.

I'm much the same 3.73 gears and a stock converter that'll stall at about 3000rpm when you give the little L67 the beans. It's really too loose for a little blown motor. My converter is the worst part of the package now, too much slip.

2.86 1st gear still on short but got to be better than 3.06....funnily enough it is 1st to 2nd change thay go apeshit with wheelspin.

Good convertor should not have much slip for part throttle driving untill you nail it then flash to advertised stall speed or something not what it should be.

Actually love 3.7 gears best allrounders for efi 304/355 vn-vs....lighter early girls etc that have taller tyre prefer even shorter rear gears lol.

The 355 vh sle was first car to convince me you can have big convertor & car will still drive nicely if it's built to spec.

Pushrod update

There is definitely a difference in the pushrod length when you set it up.
1. on back of cam 8.00" length gave best pattern
2. When measured based on the maximum cam lift/2 divided by 0.050" (7/16" rockers): with 5.9-6 turns on nut got 8.2"
Isky lifters call for 0.030"-0.040" lifter preload (1/2=3/4 turn) need to + 0.050" = 8.25"
So looking for Crow PR5825-110 pushrods

Ground the sides of guide plates on some of them and set the plates in right location to keep the rocker straight as possible on the valve tip
Tighten them up with a little Loctite and 50lbs.
