My 88 VN wagon has the Mongoos alarm going off - I dont have a remote or any way to turn it on or off. The alarm was installed when the Calais L3 dash and loom went about 3 years ago. The car was parked with a group of 100 or so cars on Sunday and when I went to unlock it with the key it went mental. I had no idea it had a working alarm as I had no remote. How do I deactivate the Calais alarm with no remote???
That's what I was thinking - must have been some one else???? - now for how to disable it without killing the car.
Just took the main fuse out - the one held in with 2 x 10mm bolts and the alarm seems to have reset it's self. So all's quiet for now .... Just how did it get set to on?????
some times that may just re arm randomly. if your looking for the main unit its most likely located under the dash below the head unit. depending on what class of alarm it is you may be able to buy a new remote and reprogram the remote so you can use the alarm. by the sounds of it, its just a cheap old mongoose, since most modern ones have dual immobilisers. if you find the central control unit, its a black box with wires coming out of it, then you can check to see what model it is then try to find a manual for it to reset the remotes. sometimes turning the ignition to on x amount of times will arm and disarm old crap alarm systems.
with the um mongoose, if oyu havnt got the remote, u have to take the unit out and send it away to get them matched.. when i bought my calais. the alarm horn was removed and the relay taken out, if i want to drive it i have to turn the overide switch to disarm the imob.. i can leave it un \armed but then it might get pinched
