Hello

Need to find out what the cylinder compression value is for a new or recon v6 vn engine. I am thinking of swapping engines as there is not much power left in mine. A wrecker has a vp engine that has done only a hundred thousand km's that apparently fits a vn commodore..

Need to know what a good compression value is for comparison (he said he would check the vp engine compression values as they are written down but has not got back to me yet - thought i would get on this forum in the meantime. . Can anyone help? Is there a spec sheet out there?

regards,
Martin

The minimum compression for the V6 engine is 689 kPa or around 100 psi.The lowest reading on any cylinder should not be less than 70% of the highest cylinder reading.Compression should build up quickly and evenly in each cylinder.
