where can i find out about my vn engine number starts with VH i hav'nt found anything on google at all about it, i need to identify for harmonic balancer i need theres 2 types apperantly.

Hi mate just grab the engine number from your engine and take it to Repco or supercheap and they will tell you which one u need cause vn-vr (unsure about ecotec) have to different balancers they look the same on the outside but the inside it is different (the way it connects to the crank)

i havnt come up with a answer i got nowhere with repco they could'nt use the engine number they didnt know how, anycase found out on ebay something interesting

Holden Commodore VN 3.8Ltr V6 Series One Harmonic Balancer.

Crank Bore : 34.93mm (1.375in)
Pulley Diameter : 179.8mm (7.079in)
Nose Diameter : 49.1mm (1.933in)
Weight : 7.71Lbs
Overall Width : 85.5mm (3.366in)

Holden Commodore late VN - VP 3.8Ltr V6 Harmonic Balancer - from 12/90-on.

Crank Bore : 34.87mm (1.373in)
Pulley Diameter : 175.8mm (6.921in)
Nose Diameter : 49.15mm (1.935in)
Weight : 7.72Lbs
Overall Width : 85.45mm (3.364in)

is this the differance or am i way off?

Yes, as I mentioned above, the series one is different (as it uses a different crank). Vn s2-vr should be the same

Strange that Repco could not help, when. I replaced mine there was two different balancers gave them my engine number and found which one I needed as the input shafts are different. Hope u get it sorted
