I'm at the point of fixing the diff in the sedan. It has a LSD that jumps around under hard to moderate acceleration. Also has a vibration if the wheels get up a bit of a spin. (maybe Greenfoam's tune is the problem there) I've been told this can be the centre bearing. The axels are true as far as I know. What do I have to get replaced - clutches and bearings. Anything else? What wouold a normal rebuild cost? I can get a single spinner fitted for $150. Then save up for a LSD rebuild later. Anyone know of a reliable place to get the work done down south of Adelaide?
Have you checked the rubber gearbox mount?, they are broken in most 5 litres with a few ks on them and it causes some pretty good vibrations, mine was almost disolved!
Had the box changed 2 months ago - so should have been picked up at that point. BUT you never know. I'll get them to confirm next Friday.
Come on man, i plug them every post i make usually, Boss Racing Differentials. There Addy is Scarborough Way Lonsdale, Can't remember the number, but if your entering from lonsdale highway (the little access road they have) follow the road, turn left when you see booths transport, then left at the end, thats scarborough way. Then they are about 20 metres up on your right (prick of a driveway if you have a lowered car, so take it slow) Graham will sort you out Tell him stealthy sent you, and ask him if he has my black stickers yet
Oh thanks Stealthy - I'll visit next Friday on my day off. I used to work on that road a few years ago for a drilling company so should be able to find it no probs.
if your getting axle tramp (diff moving around under a heavy foot) check the top control arm bushes for the diff. now that i've got the LSD mine's doing the same thing, they look ok on the car, but so did the ones on the VS until i took em out and could see the splits in the rubber
I bought my own parts for heaps cheap and got Graham (BOSS Diffs) to lap in the new clutches align and assemble the carrier. cost me $100 for grahams time. Go there often enough and he gives you excellent prices, best ive seen in adelaide.
Got a standard diff fitted for $150. Vibration gone. Save up to fix the LSD. So it's out with the manuals to see what parts I may need. - AND Go see Graham.
