what do you mean it won't increase / decrease power, after removing it. It's a restriction on the air flow. If you cover half your throttle body with gaffer tape are you saying it won't make a difference.... Of course it will.

fair enough the removal of it may cause the rear two cylinders to lean out a little because the length of the bell mouth puts the incoming air into the centre of the manifold distributing it evenly. hence better idle, but who drives a car on idle???

take the damn thing out, common sense says that car manufacturers create engines to be fuel economic and drivability. If your after power remove it thats all their is to it

Just remember you can have the biggest and best air intake up to the manifold but if the rest is of the engine is standard the next major restriction would be at the valves. The time they are open, length they are pushed down ect.

I am not saying removing the bellmouth 'wouldnt' increase power, I am just saying the standard engine's valves would only allow a certain amount of air in anyway.

Agreed 100% my friend. I have been debating this for a year or two now, still haven't done it. Probably not worth doing so. Just get a high flowing exhaust, air intake and 70mm throttle body, and also a good custom tune or a performance memcal from ebay. Will boost power as much as you really can
