Ey guys my ss seems to be getting hot to quickly on idle, I give it a few revs and within minutes shes over the half way mark on the gauge without driving.. I noticed the a/c thermo in front of the radiator isnt turning on when running hot, or isnt it suppost to?

If not what else could be my problem?

    cheers:thumbsup:

Maybe look for coolant leaks too. If it's only overheating at idle, the mechanical fan clutch would be a strong suspect.

most likely air in the coolant, fyi, water pumps dont pump air well....

fill it up with water, radiator cap /filler cap off
start it, cover the radiator cap opening with your hand (before it gets too hot)
squeaze the top radiator hose and it should help squeaze air out of there, works with my supra, but ive got gremlins in my cooling system hardcore!

Thanks guys, I know the clutch fan is working properly so I can rule that out.. im guessing there might be air in the coolant also as my radiator cap is kind of screwed and maybe not holding pressure?

the radiator caps has to hold lots of pressure for the system to work correctly.
search on bleeding the cololing system.
I've written it up a few times myself.

yeah try bleeding the system and see how you go.
i usually just park the car with the front up an incline and run it with the rad cap off till the thermostat opens up and no more bubbles come out from the radiator.
leave the heater on hot and full fan

if that fails it will be a sticky thermostat

If there's air in the coolant there's a leak somewhere; air in = coolant out. The radiator cap would do it.
