Vn V6 Manual S1
3 years ago i bought the worlds most over serviced one owner S1 VN V6 Commodore.
Oil Changed has been by thieving dealer Every 3 Months for 30 years according to the heavily stamped book. Its only got 150000k on it.
Today i thought i would put it back on the road. Plugs, Leads coolant, fuel filter, diff & gearbox oils, all no problem, fresh 98 in the tank.
all went well except....... I should have guessed. The sump plug won't come out will it. It started to undo normally & then it got tight for a few turns & now it just spins.

Im not sure if the spot welds have broken from inside the sump or its just stripped. My money is on the spot welds. Anyone else come across this? ive been turning spanners for 45 years & never had it on any car to date.

Any suggestions?

Me thinks ill be pulling the motor & ripping the sump off, but i'm open to suggestions.

Others on here may have a workaround but to do it properly the sump has to come off.I think i read where you can lift the motor up,after removing engine mounts, to remove sump.
Trying to drill it out would leave iron filings everywhere.

I had a VS 1 years ago and I’m sure it had an alloy sump.
I do feel for having also twirled the spanners for a long time. 1950s.
When an easy job goes to sh1t. So frustrating.
Sump off no doubt is your best shot.
I’ve not looked you up but if you are on the Gold Coast I would be more than happy to give you a hand.
I would even bring a 6 pack for later.

VS ecotec sump will not fit on a VR or earlier.

There was no difference between manual and auto engine sumps on VR or VS. is your VN S1 man or auto ?
