    Hi all,

Im about to pull out a V8 auto out of a VN wagon. I know the bearings are stuffed and the car will turn over but will not start.

I am going to rebuild this motor and it will go into my FJ panelvan.

What items should I replace while I am rebuilding this motor. What major problems do we have with the VN 5.0 litre.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    Everything

If I was to rebuild my motor I’d replace all the bearing, new pistons and rings (30 thou over) get the entire bottom end fully balanced and the heads planned, with a really top valve seat job.

Plus make all the run outs/ins as close to each other as possible.

Also add a different cam, maybe a hyd roller cam and heavy valve springs.

Get the block cleaned, decked and tested for cracks.

It might cost a bit more but the engine would last longer and produce more power.

    Cheers and good luck
