hey all just bought a vn v8 for 700 its on lpg but the fuel pump is not wired in wich leads me too beleive that its stuffed and if connected it will short out the relay stalling the engine etc but back to the point, i know it has 2 pumps one internal one external. can i do away with the two pumps and just install one pump like say a walbro gss 341/342 rated at 255l/h or 500hp as it is heaps cheaper its 150 for the walbro or 79 for inernal and 178 for external or other way around. also what mods are needed for a t400 to go in the vn v8 is it straight bolt up but exchange the t400 yolk i found a t400 for 400 rather than a t700 for 1000 has any one done any of theese mods please help
I thought all the auto vn/p 8 had a t400. I havnt seen the duel pump setup yet but worst case, you could just buy a regular intank fuel pump setup from a wreckers and buy a new pump to go on it for $50-$100 and it will all be sweet.
The internal pump is a feeder/sender pump which feeds to the external pump which does all the hard work.
the t400 is the 3 speed in the earlier commy's, vn/p's have the hydrolic t700 which imo ****s all over the vr onwards t700 as theirs is electronic which = gayness
i thought v8s had two pumps? id say the pump is disconnected to stop you from putting fuel in because its probably been tuned for lpg?
Some early VN's had 2 pumps. You should be able to convert it to a later single pump setup quite easily. Reaper
the single pump out of a vn-vp or s v6 works, to my knowledge every vn had the twin pump setup which is the best, no fuel surges. th400 is a stronger box but lacks the extra highway gear of the th700, not hard to swap over same as the fuel pump, dont go overboard for now id suggest fixing whats wrong with the car as it is.
for what you payed you had to expect to have to fix some things? Just bite the bullet and do it right. you will be rewarded by reliability and more money at resale time because of the receipts for work done or parts bought etc.
