Ive had a search around and cant seen to find what im looking for so hear goes.. Going to change the diff oil in the vn v8 and she has a lsd and i know i need the lsd oil but how much? Some say it needs a certian amount and some say it need to be full to the filler hole and also heard just enough oil so your finger tip touches the oil if you put the finger in the filler hole? Which is it? Is too much oil bad for it? Think sunday i will do it too..does it matter which brand of oil as well as its not a kmart brand
You will need to pop the rear lid off to drain it out, so you will need a gasket and some gasket seal. I just use LS90 castrol. My mate can get it for free where he works.
Bout 1.6 litres or so? That is roundabout what mine used when I filled it. Just used Nulon LSD oil. Can't overfill, it'll just pour out the hole again and it's not bad for it. Lots of diffs and gearboxes are filled this way. Someone correct me if I'm oh so wrong but really even a finger dip thing is fine to. They leak over time, plenty of commies with half empty diffs going strong, well at least till it gets too low and trashes bearings.
