the sensor itself is different between vns1 and vns2/vp.
vns1 is a singe wire and grounds through the exhaust (fairly crap when the exhaust and thread is old and rusty)
vns2/vp is a 2 wire sensor, doesn't take much to put the engine loom side plug on and use a 2 wire sensor (better due to not having to worry about the thread being a good ground for the o2 signal)

have modded my 88 vn to use a 2 wire o2, will get a pic in the daylight of the plug mod, basically raided a s2 loom for the plug and left a decent length on the wires & soldered the signal wire into the existing loom signal wire and added an eyelet lug for the ground wire and screwed it to the map sensor screw, doesn't look to pretty but works a treat. (fairly sure i've seen the plug sets in autobarn etc so don't have to go about raiding old looms)

basically the same loom except for the o2 wiring and cts plug position, easy enough to mod, fit and use though, may not be cts but there's some sensor in a different position that needs the wires extended i forget which exactly (to warm with the fire cranked up and can't be bothered going out in the cold to check lol)
