I havent chnaged the led myself but this is how you get to it.

*Red circles indicate the position of where to do things from*

1. Locate cover covering gear selector

2. Pull the cover up covering the gear selector

3. Unplug the (2) plugs connected to the cigaret lighter

4. Turn the cover as pictured and pull the cover up from the back pushing towards the front of the car

5. Remove the gear selector plate (mark where it sits for refitment) and the cover over the power button

6. Remove the gear selector by twisting the back end down and sliding over the gear stick (be careful not to snap it, i broke mine and replaced from wreckers for $5)

7. Replace the LED globe which is clearly in veiw

8. The white plate held on by 4 screws may need to be taken off but thats very straight forward on how to take off

9. Do this tutorial in reverse to put it all back together

Hope this helps!

so the panel just pops off?

yeah mate, pull it off using your hand (near the handbrake) or use a screwdriver to help lever it off...

Can u get brighter ones, or better yet can you put the red sleeves on them (like you do your dash lights to make them red) - or is this illegal ?

I dont think any interiour colour is illegal. It is all classed as interior lighting and is not subject to much technicality. As is my understanding. You can go as bright as Leds can go. I have some that peak at 110,000mcd. Thats really getting blindingly (if thats a word) painful. Most leds off ebay also come with resistors to limit current for 12v (car) applications.

The globes behind the instrument cluster are different from the ones in the gear selector and dash. I posted a topic on disassembly of the instrument cluster ... http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=12428.. You should be able to see the globes on the back are 'push and twist' in.

yeah i know, i changed my dash lights to blue the other day, but now i want my gear selector ones blue too, but dont know if there is a blue LED available in the right size if its different to the dash ones.

(P.S. my cluster screw on the left side was broken too. weird!)
