Vp - 5 litre tradie ute

Started life as lowest spec v6 t5 benchseat tradie ute...bought $900,rough as hell with couple of months rego left on it.

Ended up liking it so first rebuild had to fix every common vn/p fault then used as daily untill clutch let go 18 months later...

Got complete vs v8 ute conversion from Pick & Payless for $1100 with warranty...reco'd 304/4l60 with small c.o.m.e cam


Current specs:


vs 304/4l60e driveline

shiftkit,boost valve,corvette servo,auto was pulled apart & checked by shiftright...accelerator stally & deep pan not fitted yet

3.08 single spinner still in it...got in shed 3.45 or 4.11 gears + lsd centre also vl wagon diff housing & 15x7 chasers

ace memcal tune
vs v6 thermofan
vl manual steering rack...deleted p/steer,air con

Parts of atleast 10 different cars in this thing...owned it 3 or 4 years,on it's 2nd build...first of which started not long after being made redundant money was tight & not much else to do but work on house or ute to keep busy.

Iirc pedal box,shifter wiring,clutch firewall blockoff come from Tassie.

Not sure if aldl plug/wiring,t-bar shifter assembly & handbrake came from you or cousin in laws vr wreck OR possibly both as ended up with some spares for another efi 5l conversion project car.

Swapped out benchseat for vp ss seats...wanted height adjustable seat,much lighter then bench setup but also wanted to centre handbrake so can go twin cats & 4l60e deep pan.

Also scored $10 Pick & Payless vr non-airbag steering to replace ugly troublesome aftermarket woodrim shite that was swapped for vs v6 thermofan setup.

Started to like working on cars again because of this ute...not much cash in it but plenty of parts swapping or cheap deals/help from forum members & funny ass stories why or how certain parts ended on ute.

New tonneau cover (cheap ebay spec)
whiteline goodies from superspares -superlow bumpstops,adjustable top control arms,27mm adjustable blade rear sway bar.strut cross brace.

suzukisuper adjustable panhard & front swaybar links

pick n payless reco'd 97 vs 304/4l60e driveline ($1100 conversion kit radiator to tailshaft with vt brake convesion for a vs) smallest come cam kit & crap tiger extractors/y pipe with cheap rhino catback

3000-3500 stall convertor accelerator convertor

pacemakers from bestmufflers.com

12p kit from delcohacking

ace performance tuning memcal..98 fuel,vats off,small cam,vs thermofan activated

Yeah gonna have to get new phone one day learn how to post pics etc...been using crappy no wifi phone since photobucket died.

Ute is dead quiet barely hear it with radio on...you wouldn't notice it was a v8 untill standing next to it nor the baby cam unless knew what stocker was like.

As for looks & theme of this build is for it to resemble a stock vp ute despite all the different model parts & mods lol.

Did have cheapie exhaust previously which sounded quite nice not too loud however it was horrendous drone inside cabin had to shut it up.Eventually will fit better flowing setup that won't be headache inducing on a gutted out ute with minimal insulation/deadening.

Today: fitted the bumpstop
re-crimped plug near shifter to get reverse lights working again
changed washer pump,works but now grommet leaks
pulled centre of dash out to dummy fitted bilge blower under dash -lightweight demister
fixed few other things & did some cleaning untill got dark so headed in.

I'll have to have a good read of this thread can't remember what I've done to this but mostly collecting parts.

Split-tubs & rust repairs done by cousin who was a panelbeater...looks factory as fark!!!!

Not keen on 15x7 255/60/15 rears...looks weird to me.
Hopefully next week take ute to wheel mob for custom chasers...15x9 or 15x10 rears then work out whether to use vp diff or shorter vl wagon diff.

Will not be any dish at all from the side but should look fat from behind *fingers crossed*

You can just go to the "Attach Files" section on the bottom left when writing a reply or copy and paste, if you're getting an image from the internet... I've never used photobucket...
