Ey guys my silly mate came over to show me his vp bt1, I popped the bonnet and the first thing that hit my eye was the vin tags.. they have been cut out around the rivets to be removed, on closer expection I noticed it had FE then the number 2 has beenn engraved which straight away alarmed me, as FE means stock springs yes? and the 2 has been engraved. And axle says GU then has the number 4 engraved? All the vins match and read its a bt-1, paint ect all matches up. That FE2 thing is my main concern, also what troubles will he have at vicroads with this? as its un-regoed ect. I want to help this guy as I feel sorry for him that his been dodged in some way, any info will help thanks fellas.. also im not after stupid posts "why did he buy it with obvious tag tampering" ive asked him the same question though its something to learn from. Cheers
FE2 is standard on the BT1 = sports suspension Look under the LH headlight to see the boby tag - this is often missed in a re birthed car. The L123456 number should match the VIN in the window slot.
Yeah I know that greeny, though FE is outgraved and the number 2 is ingraved, which why I was wondering is that suss? Will go to his house tommorow and sus out the VIN cheers greeny
Yeah it seems all the vins match, though there is no sign of tampering on the VIN plate under the headlight. Im still curious why anyone would take both compliance plates off and leave obvious evidence of tampering, the plates are scratched and bent. The Q is how will vicroads handle this? if all the vins match and stuff.
its pretty easy to do rebirths, buy a run down vp thats licenced and steal a done up vp in the same colour and swap the plates heard of it been done a few years ago in belmont and gosnells , they always seemed to get away with it
i think there is a serial number on the diff that you may be able to check with holden. most plastics on the car will have the manufacture year and month on the back these shoud be very close to the tag date. if they are out then check a few more if nearly all are out then it is sus.
